Problem
This client rents out a small fleet of cars in Toulouse. Before the platform, every booking happened over the phone: checking a paper calendar, writing down card numbers, chasing deposits, and remembering who picks up which car and when.
Availability lived in the owner's head, so every call carried a risk of renting the same car twice
Damage deposits were handled by hand, which felt awkward for customers and unreliable for the business
There was no record of pickups, returns, or booking status beyond paper and memory
Professional rental software is priced for fleets of hundreds of cars, not a handful
The goal: give a small local business the same booking experience as a national rental brand. Search, book, pay, done.
Design
Two Steps to a Booking
Customers pick their dates, see only the cars that are actually free, fill in their details, and pay. No account to create and no waiting for a quote. Fewer steps means fewer people giving up and calling instead.
Prices That Reward Longer Rentals
Rent for a week and the price drops 15%. A month, 20%. The total updates live as the customer picks dates and options such as delivery or using their own insurance, so the final price at checkout is never a surprise.
A Calendar That Runs the Day
The owner's calendar shows every car, plate by plate, day by day, with a color for each booking's status. One glance answers which car is free, which comes back today, and where two bookings would collide.
Emails That Do the Talking
Every step of a rental (confirmation, pickup, return, deposit charge) sends the right email to both the customer and the owner, including a WhatsApp link so the owner can message the customer in one tap.
Key Features
Live Availability
Customers only see cars that are genuinely free for their dates. No callbacks and no double bookings.
Deposits Without the Hassle
The customer's card is saved securely at payment. If a car comes back damaged, the owner can charge the deposit (up to €300) in one click, and the customer never types their card twice.
Bookings That Manage Themselves
The platform knows when each rental starts and ends, updates every booking automatically, and sends the right email at each step. Nobody keeps track by hand.
A Calendar of Real Cars
Each booking lands on the exact car it will use, license plate included, so the calendar always matches the parking lot.
No Sign-Up Required
Customers book in two steps and find their reservation later with just their email address.
A Simple Control Room
Monthly revenue, today's pickups and returns, how busy the fleet is, and every booking searchable in one place.
How It's Built
The platform runs on the same modern tools used by large online businesses: Stripe handles every payment and saved card, Supabase stores bookings and fleet data, and Vercel hosts the site and runs the daily automation. For the owner, that means bank-level payment security and a platform that stays fast and online without a maintenance contract.
Under the Hood
A booking only exists once it's paid
The reservation is only written down after Stripe confirms the payment went through, so there are never unpaid ghost bookings blocking a car.
The deposit is ready before it's needed
The card is saved at the moment of payment. If there's damage, charging the deposit takes one click, capped at €300, with a record of every charge.
The calendar advances itself
The system checks every booking against the clock in Paris and moves it forward on schedule, from confirmed to active to completed, emailing both sides along the way.
What We Learned
The deposit is what builds trust
For a small rental business, getting paid is the easy part. Covering damage is what keeps owners up at night. Building the deposit into the payment from day one is what made it safe to move bookings off the phone.
Automate the chores, keep the decisions
The platform handles the repetitive work, while the owner still decides what to do about no-shows, damage, or extensions. That balance is why the automation earned trust.
Skipping accounts wins customers
Nobody wants to create an account to rent a car for a weekend. Looking up a booking by email covers the need, and every removed screen keeps another customer from simply dialing the number instead.
